something new?

here are the boys, circa june '09 (i took the photos this very morning). we are doing very well. as usual, my apologies for the (very) long delay in posting an update.

we have been using conley's feeding tube faithfully over the past six months and, to be quite honest, we haven't seen the progress we had hoped for and had been told we would see. i guess that is just how it goes sometimes. however, in our frustration and because of my failure to pack conley's tube apparatus on a short trip recently, we discovered that when we do not tube-feed him after each meal and during the nighttime, he actually eats decent amounts of food on a relatively normal schedule.

we are cautiously optimistic about this development and appreciate everyone's prayers. we do not know if he has just changed his mind about the matter or if maybe the tube-feeding has increased his appetite. either way, we are ready to be done with the tube and would love for this to be a new chapter for conley and our entire family. we shall see. no matter what happens, many thanks to God for the two beautiful, joyful, bright boys who make us laugh and who challenge us every single day.

disney

my parents took us to disney world last week. it was great. malachi was at least as ecstatic as we could have expected... maybe more.

pictures will soon follow, i hope.

the trip can be summed up in malachi's comment from the carseat on our second-to-last day.

"Conley, I'm not your brother. I'm Maleficent."

Merry Christmas

this season has been pretty wonderful. it gets better every year as our boys grow and are able to enjoy more things, learn about the true meaning of our celebrating, and become less afraid of snow.

a quick update on the elder brother, since he doesn't always get a lot of press here: malachi is doing really well as a big brother. he is also enjoying preschool. he's pretty much a rockstar there, doing whatever is necessary to stay in the limelight. not sure where he gets that from.

conley had some checkups today. he's gained a bit of weight already. we're thankful. his surgery is healing up well.

we really hope that everyone has a great holiday season. for those of you who celebrate the coming of Christ, may this time be filled with joy and gratitude. may we all take on the heart of the incarnation toward those around us; the heart of a God Who is willing to participate in this
world in order to save us from ourselves. thanks for everything.
